The pneumatic tire is very similar to those that you find on many heavy duty trucks and will be filled with air. These tires are made from strong rubber and will be thick with a deep tread so that they are resistant to wear and tear. It is these tires which help to extend the life of a forklift truck by providing a cushion of air between the vehicle and the terrain on which it is working. The most common type of forklift truck to use pneumatic tires is the one known as a rough terrain forklift because of their durability and toughness.

Although the solid rubber tire is a good alternative to pneumatic tires they are very similar but do not contain any air and are completely made from rubber. One of the great advantages to having such tires on a forklift truck is they do not pop or become deflated. However they will not provide the operator with the same level of pneumatic tires do. Also although these tires can last for a long time they actually do not help to lengthen the lifespan of the vehicle on which they are on. These tires are particular good for use both indoors and outdoors. However they should only be used rarely outside.
